Remember to attach your timing chip!

Helsinki City Run will use ChampionChip system for timing. Your running time will be first recorded when you cross the timing carpets on the start line. The time from this to the point of crossing the finish line will give you the “net time” from the half marathon, which is the time you have actually spent for the half marathon. Notice, that the official finishing time is the “gun time”, which is recorded from the start gunshot to the point where you cross the finish line.

It is important that you will run over the timing carpets at every control point and not go around them. You must use exactly the chip, which you are given to be able to make sure you will get the timing right.

The chips we use at the Helsinki City Run are only for rent. This means that the chip will work only in the Helsinki City Run 2013 event and you are not able to use them in other events using the same timing system. Unfortunately any personal chips may not be used. All runners must return the chip to the officials after the race. After crossing the finish line, your chip is removed by the officials. If you need to cancel the race before the finish line, it is important that you will remember to return the chip to the officials either at the refreshment stations, first aid or personnel at the race office. You can also send your chip to the office by mail (Helsinki City Run, Radiokatu 20, FI-00240 Helsinki, Finland). The chip must be returned by 20 May, or the organisation must charge you a fee for the lost chip.

If you do not return the chip, you will be charged a fee of 45 euro.

NO CHIP - NO TIME!

In the envelope, you will receive your chip, which will be used to record your time during the race. In the envelope you will also find a fastener. Please, use this to fastener to attach your chip carefully to your left shoe. Please, do not put your shoe laces through the chip as it will make the removal of the chip at the finish a lot slower. During the race, the chip must be attached to your shoe. If the chip is not attached to the shoe the whole run, the runner is not able to get the finishing time.

You will receive your timing chip in a big envelope together with your running number.
